When it comes to cosmetic dermatology, customization is king, because every patient has their own unique aesthetic concerns and ideas about how they want to look. However, unwanted hair is nearly a universal problem. All of us have spent time shaving, waxing, tweezing, sugaring, or using other methods to get rid of hair on one body area or another – the face, underarms, chest, back, knees, legs, bikini area, or even down to the ankles and toes. To meet the demand for longer-lasting hair removal solutions and to offer our patients only the best, Dermatology Associates of Atlanta (DAA) houses our own specialized Hair Removal Center.

What is the Dermatology Associates of Atlanta Hair Removal Center?

laser hair removal discounts atlantaThe field of dermatology spans a wide number of different procedures and skin conditions, so to offer our patients the most specialized care available, DAA houses nine unique specialty centers, each staffed with providers who focus on distinct aspects of dermatology. At our Hair Removal Center, our providers have over 20 years of laser experience and they specialize in the various methods of long-term hair removal. Laser hair removal is highly popular, and as one of the few offices who participated in the trial testing for the very first laser hair removal treatment, our experience in this procedure is nearly unparalleled, but our patients have also achieved great results with our two other options: EpiLight and electrolysis.

What services are offered at Dermatology Associates of Atlanta’s Hair Removal Center?

We offer three primary types of hair removal treatments:

  • Laser hair removal uses a beam of light which is attracted to the pigment in your hair. This allows the energy to travel down the hair and into the follicle, damaging the follicle to impair future growth. We have several different types of lasers we can use, depending on your skin type.
  • EpiLight is very similar to laser hair removal. However, this particular device uses IPL, or intense pulsed light – the same type of light used for photo rejuvenation.
  • Electrolysis uses an ultrafine probe to send electrical currents into the individual hair follicles, hindering future hair growth. Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis doesn’t rely on the hair’s pigment because it delivers the energy directly into the follicles, so it’s an ideal option for patients who have very little pigment in their hair (e.g., those with blond, gray, or white hair). It’s also particularly common for fine hairs on the face.

Long-term hair removal can be the perfect way to take some stress and wasted time out of your life by letting you wake up every day to smooth, hair-free skin, but it shouldn’t be attempted by someone who isn’t an experienced medical professional. That’s why our Certified Clinical Electrologist, who has been treating hair removal patients for over twenty years, has the expertise to evaluate your hair and skin and recommend the ideal treatment for you using our state-of-the-art technology.
